The Perfect Fit!

Tired of clothes that don’t fit? Too small, too long, too short? Never fear, as The Sanctuary have trawled the high street for you, finding places to shop so you’ll never have those problems again!

Plus sizes

There are a few good places on the high street where you can buy good quality, fashionable clothes in sizes above 16. A really good range is ‘Inspire’ by New Look, where the clothes are similar to the main range, but go from a size 16 to a 24. The tops are scaled to have larger armholes and more chest room. Dorothy Perkins go up to a size 22 in their normal range, which has some gorgeous party pieces, as well as quality, long-lasting, basics. Evans supply clothes from a size 14 to a 32, and sell shoes in wide fittings up to a size 10. For formal wear, Debut at Debenhams goes up to a size 22, and around £100 for a party dress, is perfect for when you want to treat yourself!

TOP TIP   An Empire Line is the most flattering cut on plus size girls, as it draws attention to the smallest part of a woman’s torso, just under the chest.

Tall

Tall ranges accommodate women 5’7” and over. They usually increase arm and body lengths in tops and coats, and leg lengths in trousers. Dorothy Perkins do a Tall range, with a great selection of on trend fashion. It is similar to the main range, but often come in different colours. New Look’s Tall range is where you’ll find longer versions of the main section. Next has an extensive selection of formal basics including longer length trousers. These cost around £25, which is a fabulous price for a smart pair of trousers.

TOP TIP Dresses from the main ranges of shops can be worn as a top on you tall ladies, which is a good look for this season.

Petite

Petite ranges cater to women 5’3” and under. They usually decrease the arm and body length of tops and coats, and the leg length of trousers. Next has an excellent range of petite clothes, with bright cardigans starting at just £16. As the Spring/Summer collection is now in stock it is a great time to get a light jacket, perfect for transitional dressing. Dorothy Perkins has a Petite range, similar to its Tall range in that the clothes differ slightly from the main range in colour and pattern, while keeping it on trend. Marks and Spencer has always been a classic, as advocated by Erin O’Connor and Lily Cole, and stock a petite range. Although limited, if looking for a summer dress, you can be sure of quality.

TOP TIP  To create the illusion of extra height wear a heel, but keep most of it covered with the hem of your trousers, to make your legs look like they go on forever!
